Dr. Osamu Yaosaka, Professor Emeritus of Kyushu University, Visits Kinmon Gakuen
On Saturday, September 19, Kinmon Gakuen was pleased to welcome Dr. Osamu Yaosaka, Professor Emeritus of Kyushu University and Visiting Professor at Tamagawa University.
Dr. Yaosaka is a scholar specializing in educational administration and school management. Throughout his academic career, he has conducted extensive research and teaching in such areas as school management, teacher education and credentialing, and educational leadership. He served as a professor at Kyushu University and continues to contribute to the field of education as Professor Emeritus of Kyushu University and Visiting Professor at Tamagawa University.
Dr. Yaosaka and Dr. Masahiko Minami, Kinmon Gakuen’s Board Member in charge of education, first met while studying at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and have known each other since that time. During Dr. Yaosaka’s visit to San Francisco, we were delighted to have the opportunity to welcome him to Kinmon Gakuen.
During his visit, Dr. Yaosaka toured our historic school building and learned about Kinmon Gakuen’s history since its founding in 1911, as well as its educational activities today. He also visited classrooms and observed our regular Saturday school activities.
The school conducted an emergency evacuation drill that day, giving Dr. Yaosaka an opportunity to observe our students, teachers, and volunteers practicing the evacuation procedure together. Following the morning classes, he joined our students, families, and staff in the auditorium to watch an Enshin Karate demonstration. His visit provided an opportunity to see not only our Japanese language classes, but also the cultural activities and school community that are an important part of Kinmon Gakuen.
We were very pleased to have the opportunity to share with Dr. Yaosaka both the long history of Kinmon Gakuen and our continuing commitment to Japanese language and cultural education.
